Operation Christmas Child

Thank you to everyone who participated; we donated 52 gift filled shoeboxes to Samaritan's Purse in 2009.

Through their new tracking system, we learned that all our shoe boxes went to South West Asia, Nepal, The Central African Republic and Madagascar.

We have received two letters back from Andrew and Angruah who live in Nepal. The Sunday School children made a book to send them, filled with photos and information about Saint Matthews.

Saint Matthews Sunday School proudly teaches the Episcopal Children's Curriculum.(ECC)

The aim of the ECC is to sustain and strengthen the ministry of teaching in the Episcopal Church, by providing our teachers with biblically based and liturgically oriented lesson plans that they can adapt to the needs of our individual classes. Most lessons incorporate appropriate material from The Bible, The Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal, to teach church traditions and standard responses used during Episcopal worship. The program therefore fully assists every child to interpret and live out the covenant made in Holy Baptism and help them build their own unique relationship with God.

KINDERMUSIK at Saint Matthews

Karen Morris (Saint Matthews Organist and Children's Choir Director), runs the Charleston area Kindermusik program from her room in Mathes Hall. We are proud to support her work which provides a wonderful opportunity for children to be able to express themselves through music from such an early age.

Kindermusik is an internationally recognized program and is now the premier movement and music program for children. Karen runs several classes in both morning and evening sessions, which are developed for different age groups from newborn to age 7.

If you would be interested in signing up for the new semester of classes starting in September, please check out her website here: www.home.earthlink.net/~kmorrismusic/kindermusikwithmisskaren/index.html
