Camp Counsellors: are responsible for a group of children and taking them around the activities in the course of the day. Each Counsellor is also assigned some teenage assistants to help. At each activity, you will back up the activity leader and help the children with the task. At the end of the day, you are responsible for ensuring all children are released to an authorized adult. Counsellors are needed for the entire week, from 8:30AM to noon.
Teenage Camper Assistants: are responsible for assisting the Camp Counsellors look after the children within their group. They help to take children to the bathroom, hand ouit snack, help and join in with all the activities and help ensure that children are released to an authorized adult. Assistants are preferably required for the entire week.
Craft Leaders: our craft coordinator will already have prepared the crafts for use in the week. We run two classrooms so need two craft leaders and usually a teenage assistant. They are responsible for setting out the days craft, instructing each class as they come through and cleaning up at the end of the day. It would be easiest if the craft leaders were available throughout the week, but could be divided between people.
Music Leaders: run the music session which is repeated for each group as they come through. Music is provided with a DVD but leaders must simplify the actions and decide which songs to teach. Other music games and activities may be included in the session. Music leaders need to be available each morning of VBS.
Recreation Assistants: Our recreation leader will have a plan of activities, but needs assistants to help organize outdoor games and activities with the children. This job can be for each individual morning only.
Storytellers; lead the story time, usually with a related activity.
Registration Desk; we need several people to help setup and man the registration desks each morning. They greet the children, check them off on the register and give them a sticker to put on the attendance charts. If you only have an hour to spare from 8:30 to 9:30 during the week, we can use you! We also need one person to be available at noon to help confirm collection authorizations.
Sparx: we need a teenager (preferably a boy) to be the voice and hands of our main puppet character; Sparx. Sparx makes his appearance with Fr. Bill everyday at the beginning and closing assemblies. This volunteer will also need to arrange some time to rehearse with Fr. Bill prior to VBS
