Volunteer Registration for Galactic Blast VBS 2010

Thank you for volunteering; it takes over 100 teenagers and adults to give their time to ensure our VBS can take place.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING FAQ'S BEFORE CLICKING ON THE LINK BELOW TO ACCESS OUR ONLINE REGISTATION PAGE.
FAQ:
Does it matter that I don't attend church at Saint Matthews?
- Not at all! We welcome any parents to volunteer whether it is an hour or for the entire week, VBS is a welcoming environment for any age
- We do need to ensure our children are safe during VBS however. Saint Matthews abides by the Safeguarding God's Children; Child Sexual Abuse Awarenss training guidelines. Class leaders will be asked to participate in a training session and we may ask for some personal references from other volunteers. Please do not let this put you off; it is our standard screening procedure to help keep our grounds a safe haven for our children.
Do I have to volunteer everyday or can I just help for a few hours?
- No, we are happy to take what time you can offer. For example, registration runs from 8:30 to 9:30AM each morning, and can be staffed by volunteers on a day to day basis. Or we always need class assistants which can be from one day to all 4 week mornings. Let us know when you are available and we will find the right fit for you.
Can teenagers help?
- Definitely - we depend on local teenagers! Anyone in 7th grade and up is welcome to help in various roles including recreation, craft and especially as class assistants.
What are some of the Volunteer jobs you have available?
- Craft room assistant - helping the children do the prepared craft each day.
- Recreation helpers - to help entertain the children with outdoor activities (usually the dads tend to take on this role!)
- Photographers - to take general photos and also individual class shots
- First Aid Providers
- Providing Food for volunteers and children - arranged ahead of time
- Administration prior to VBS
- Registration 8:30AM to 9:30AM

Do we have to purchase a t-shirt?
- Each adult will be provided with one t-shirt to wear as their "Uniform". If you are helping for multiple days, you are welcome to purchase additional t-shirts at cost. Please ensure you mark your t-shirt size on the volunteer registration form and you can order additional t-shirts from here too.
- If ordering additional t-shirts, please send a check payable to Saint Matthews Episcopal Church, (36 Norwood Rd, Charleston WV 25314) with "VBS t-shirt + Your Name" noted on the memo line. All t-shirts must be paid for before the order deadline which is usually 2 weeks prior to VBS.
