VBS Volunteer Information Page

We are extremely grateful to anyone who can volunteer even an hour of their time. Without volunteers, we would not be able to run Camp E.D.G.E. We hope you will find this to be a rewarding experience too.

1. T-shirts: you will be provided with one t-shirt. Please ensure you fill in the Volunteer Information Form so we know what size to order you. We need you to wear this everyday you volunteer; it helps children identify who they can approach for help. Saint Matthews grounds are open to the public in general, so this helps maintain the safety and security of the children. You may purchase additional t-shirts at cost price if you choose; $7 for adult sizes and $8 for XXL. Just let us know on the above form that you would like additional t-shirts and send in a check made payable to Saint Matthews Episcopal Church with "VBS T-shirt" written on the memo line.
2. Volunteer Meeting: we ask that all volunteers, including teenagers, attend a meeting at 10AM on Monday July 13th. This is to ensure everyone understands all aspects of their roles, to train everyone on some health and safety aspects and to ensure everyone is ready for Camp E.D.G.E to open the next morning! If you cannot attend this meeting, please ensure you contact Lucy Templeton prior to VBS to go over some of this information.
3. VBS Week hours: Unless you are only volunteering for short specific times as agreed, volunteers will need to arrive by 8:30AM each morning. Assembly will start promptly at 9AM but children arrive earlier. We close at noon, and are usually very quick in getting out! We may hold a brief meeting after the first day to iron out any bumps we came across. We hope you will also return for the 10:30AM VBS Worship on Sunday 19th (see below).
4. VBS Worship: where possible, we hope as many of our volunteers will come back to be recognized and share the fun of our final day of VBS on Sunday 19th. We will have a slideshow reviewing the week and the children will perform some of the songs they learned. Following church, there will be a barbecue and jump house at our Closing Grand Finale Carnival.
