Sunday School Calendar and Events

SUNDAY SCHOOL DATES 2010—2011

These are the dates when Sunday School is in session this year. Once a month the children will be brought over to the church at 11am to join the main congregation for communion in place of their usual Children’s Chapel. They will remain as a group in the front pews and should be collected from there after church.

OPERATION HEIFER: Last year, the children can put money in the Sunday School Collection Plate to go towards Project Heifer – they raised $500 to purchase a cow through Heifer International. At the beginning of the year, the children will choose a new project to support during the 2010-11 school year.

August 22	First Day of Sunday School
August 29	Rally Day- Sunday School as usual, followed by a picnic celebration. Hot dogs and burgers provided, please bring a dessert or side dish to share. Jupiter Jump for the children.
September 5	No Sunday School due to Labor Day Weekend. Children welcome in church.
September 12	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
September 19	Children start in class at 10:15AM then come to church for Communion.
September 26	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
October 3	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
October 10	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
	Operation Christmas Child launched. Fill a shoe box with gifts for a child.
October 17	Children start in class at 10:15AM then come to church for Communion.
October 24	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
October 31	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
November 7	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM All Saints Celebration. Children’s Choir at 2pm (TBC)
November 14	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM Children’s Choir at 2PM (TBC)
November 21	No Sunday School due to Kanawha County Schools break for Thanksgiving
November 28	Family Worship – children will take on the service roles in church. Children’s Choir may perform.
December 5	Saint Nicholas might visit with Sunday School starting at 10AM Children’s Choir at 2PM (TBC)
December 12	Lessons and Carols; children are welcome to attend this special service or Sunday School. Children’s choir usually performs at the beginning. Children’s Choir at 2PM (TBC)
December 19	Sunday School starts at 10AM for the children to make pine cone birdseed feeders before class. Children then put the feeders on the Christmas Tree in the memorial garden on their way into church for communion. Children’s Choir at 2PM (TBC)
December 24	All children are invited to participate in our nativity pageant during the 4:30PM Christmas Eve worship. Children’s Choir Perform.
December 26	No Sunday School
January 2	No Sunday School
January 9	Sunday School resumes after Christmas Break
January 16	Children start in class at 10:15AM then come to church for Communion.
January 23	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
January 30	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
February 6	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
February 13	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
February 20	Children start in class at 10:15AM then come to church for Communion.
February 27	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
March 6	Family Worship – children are welcomed into church to witness the Liturgy of First Intentional Communion taken by 2nd grade children.
March 13	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
March 20	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
March 27	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
April 3	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
April 10	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
April 17	Palm Sunday- No Sunday School. Children welcomed in church
April 24	Easter Sunday. No Sunday School. Easter Egg Hunt after the 10:30AM Worship
May 1	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
May 8	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM. Mother’s Day celebration in church
May 15	Sunday School starts with Group Time at 10:15AM
May 22	Children start in class then come to church to take communion. Last Day of Sunday School followed by End of Year Celebration
