Youth Group's Night Out at the Milton Corn Maze

15 members of Saint Matthews Youth Group and 4 adults ventured out to the Corn Maze in Milton on Saturday October 11th. We met at church at 6pm to carpool, and arrived at the maze by 7pm just as it was getting dark. Armed with flashlights and glow sticks, we separated into three groups and were allowed into the maze at two minute intervals at around 7:30pm. Each group was armed with two question sheets; one called interactive that asked general knowledge questions and a second with biblical questions. The idea of the maze is to find your way through the ten check points, at each one answering the relevant question on the sheet to tell you the direction to head next. The biblical questions proved easier and were our guiding light; although we nearly phoned Fr. Bill for spiritual guidance when no-one knew what the first animal to leave the ark was(and no it wasn't the dove!) It took just over an hour for us to find our way out; with nearly everyone in the maze getting lost trying to find the eighth check point. The issue was that although they gave you directions as long as you could work out the answers; there were ten more path divides between each check point with no clues!

After the last group finally emerged from the maze, we enjoyed some time around the campfire before returning to the cars on the hayride at about 9:15pm. A quick stop off at Wendy's for refreshments ended an incredibly fun evening, returning to church just before 11pm

Many thanks to David Sayre and John McGhee for driving and manning the campfire waiting for us to emerge, and to David Templeton for driving and chaperoning a group throught the maze.

Arriving at the corn maze

Great photo op while waiting to pay.

It very quickly got dark while we waited for our turn to enter the maze.

And the dad's waited by the fire for us to emerge the other end.

Finally we were allowed in at 7:30pm and it was really dark!

This was the point we all got lost... along with most other people in the maze.

Victorious and triumphant as they completed the maze.

Waiting by the fire for the last group to emerge.

The men working out profit margins and how to run this ourselves!

On the hayride back to the parking lot at 9:15pm.

Refreshments at Wendys at 10pm!
