Sunday October 5th, 2008 - The Blessing of the Animals

Yet again we were blessed with glorious weather, especially for an October morning. The Sun was shining down on the animals as they arrived in abundance; we had dogs, cats, a rabbit and even a possum to name a few. Many children also brought their "lovies and stuffies" to be blessed.

Under a series of tents, we remembered Saint Francis of Assisi as we worshipped outside with a chorus of singing from the dogs accompanying the liturgy. The Sunday School Children had practiced "Rise and Shine" and came up front to lead the singing and perform all the animal actions. Then after a brief homily (click here to see the video of this day) the animals were brought forward for their blessing.
